Regulatory impact of 14-3-3 proteins on NPH3-like protein function (B09)
Subject Area
Plant Physiology
Term
since 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 232631280
NON PHOTOTROPIC HYPOCOTYL 3 (NPH3) is a key component of the blue light-triggered phototropic response, acting upstream of auxin redistribution. We could show that light-regulated complex formation with 14-3-3 proteins mediates cycling of NPH3 between the plasma membrane and the cytosol - a process essential for NPH3 function. This project seeks to uncover the molecular determinants and mechanisms underlying NPH3 function in the context of its oligomerization, spatially distinct interaction partners and phosphorylation status. In addition, the impact of NPH3 on the organization of PIN auxin efflux carriers in subdomains of the plasma membrane will be explored.
