Specificity of the GET pathway for TA protein insertion in A. thaliana (A06*)

Subject Area Plant Cell and Developmental Biology
Term from 2018 to 2021
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 232631280

This project will comprise a detailed structure/function analysis of AtGET3a-TA protein binding sites. It will not only help to identify specific binding motifs, but these motifs will also help to understand and elucidate alternative functions of AtGET3a. This is of particular interest as some important motifs that execute ATP independent chaperone action in yeast are not conserved in Archaeplastida GET3a. In addition, the severe phenotype of ectopically expressed AtGET3a-GFP in the receptor loss-of-function Atget1 will allow resolving mechanistic differences between the alternative functions of AtGET3a in either membrane protein insertion or general chaperone activity.
