Project Details
Interactions Between Bacteria of the Roseobacter Group and Marine Algae via Sulfur Metabolites (B07*)
Subject Area
Metabolism, Biochemistry and Genetics of Microorganisms
Term
from 2018 to 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 34509606
During the third application period the interactions between bacteria of the Roseobacter group with other organisms via sulfur metabolites such as tropodithietic acid (TDA) and 2,3-dihydroxypropane-1-sulfonate (DHPS) will be studied as well as mechanisms of N-Acylhomoserine lactones (AHL) synthesis. Work on elucidating all enzymes in TDA biosynthesis will be completed, two further classes of DMSP lyases/hydrolases and enzymes of the DMSP demethylation pathway will be characterized and DHPS degradation studied in vitro.
