Project Details
Predictive error perception in complex natural environments (B06)
Subject Area
General, Cognitive and Mathematical Psychology
Term
since 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 222641018
Project B06 combines electrophysiological methods with behavioral experiments to investigate how the cardinal mechanisms prediction and valuation interact to promote adaptation and learning of natural, complex movements. We plan to study predictive perception in the natural unfolding of expertise in elite basketball athletes. In contrast, we will elucidate the disadvantages of compromised action monitoring for motor learning in individuals with schizophrenia. We will further examine whether and how predictive error perception can be used to maximize perceptual information gain, minimize feedback delays in motor learning, and promote goal-directed object interaction.
