The project intends to digitize finding aids of important fonds kept in the department Staatsarchiv Ludwigsburg and its branch Hohenlohe-Zentralarchiv Neuenstein within the Landesarchiv Baden-Württemberg. Generated data will appear on various platforms such as the Landesarchiv´s online information system (https://www2.landesarchiv-bw.de), the Archivportal-D (https://www.archivportald.de) and the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek (https://www.deutsche-digitale-bibliothek.de). The finding aids recommended for digitization provide access to documents that are most relevant for scientific research. Their range covers the period from the late Middle Ages into the 20th century. Fonds StAL EL 904/2 “Amerikanische Interniertenkartei” contains the largest amount of files. It originated between 1945 and 1947 and ranks among the most frequently and supraregionally used records. The project furthermore includes fonds of various imperial estates (i.e. from the German orders branch situated in Mergentheim) during the Early Modern period. Records from two courts of justice and two administrative bodies within the kingdom of Württemberg and a collection of printed maps from the 19th and 20th century complete the selection. From the Hohenlohe-Zentralarchiv Neuenstein one regionally and five supraregionally relevant fonds are recommended for digitization. Two fonds represent the policy of the Hohenlohe counts and princes towards the Holy Roman Empire. Another fonds contains documents concerning the family of musician Johann Sebastian Bach among material about the thuringian possessions of the Hohenlohe family. The two other fonds offer insights into the relationship between the Hohenlohe family and the Netherlands respectively contain finance records offering information for scholars in fields such as architectural history, social or economic history or history of arts.Substantial benefit of this project results results in the context of earlier projects dealing with retrospective conversion of core fonds within the Staatsarchiv Ludwigsburg, the branch Hohenlohe-Zentralarchiv Neuenstein and other departments of the Landesarchiv Baden-Württemberg. Referring to the particularly rich fonds concerning the territories of south western Germany during the Middle Ages and the Early Modern period, the project significantly completes the Landesarchiv´s online services. Scientific research about various topics will be facilitated.
