Project C03 will elucidate in unprecedented detail the choices made by buzzard individuals over their lifetimes leading to their niche individualization. A combination of transmitter- and video-surveillance will record how choices are affected by social and other biotic conditions. With high-resolution molecular, cellular, and hormonal techniques, we will show how strongly niche choice determines the fitness, physiology and interactions with parasites.
