The design and management of transportation is of central importance for the evolvement of modern societies. Current projects such as establishing Germany as a lead market for e-mobility or the discussions about public-private partnerships in traffic infrastructure and facilities underline the necessity of scientifically sound criteria for the process of finding socially acceptable and sustainable solutions. This requires direct and fast access to research-related information, tools and information as well as support services. Against this background, the Saxon State and University Library Dresden and the German National Library of Science and Technology (TIB) – Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology and University Library Hannover have been working together since 2018 in the Specialised Information Service for Mobility and Transport Research (www.fid-move.de). Here they develop and establish a lively, custom-tailored and reliable service, offering support to researchers in these research areas. The FID move focuses on the following key areas: - Increasing the discoverability of and facilitating access to research information, such as literature, research data and software. - Strengthening interdisciplinary networking and expanding the visibility of researchers and their achievements in the heterogeneous research landscape. - Expanding the availability and application of reusable standards and best practices in the description and elaboration of research results. The additional benefit of the FID move for the community results from the access to relevant information, open research tools and information services as well as the subject-specific support of the entire research circle. The FID move is regularly evaluated and in dialogue with the specialist community.
