New synthetic methodologies will be developed towards the installation of SF5O-, novel SF5CF2O-, and SF5OSF4-groups into organic substrates. Varying the structure of substrates, reagents, and reaction conditions we will systematically examine the selectivity of the respective reactions in the synthesis of new families of compounds bearing SF5-containing substituents. The synthesis of SF5O-arenes via arynes will be carried out and transition-metal salts with SF5O- anions will be applied as respective tools. Using SF5C(O)F as a precursor, SF5CF2O-containing organic compounds will be available. By reacting either aryl-SF4Cl with AgOSF5 or Aryl-SF3 with SF5OF, SF5OSF4 group containing aromatic systems can be synthesized. This study will expand the scope of the highly valued SF5-containing compounds by offering previously inaccessible products potentially interesting for biochemistry, organic electronics, and polymers.
