Subject Area

Term
since 2018
Project identifier

Building on the project’s previous research on South Korea’s smart city Songdo, the second funding period will focus on conflictual positionings of both queer and urban planning movements in Seoul. Focal points are negotiations of the heteronormative socio-cultural and spatial order through communicative and space-making practices of LGBTI+ groups and urban social movements. This analysis of the spatial refiguration in South Korea promises fresh insights into manifestations of multiple spatialities.
