The instrument is going to be used as a research microscope to study cellular processes of live cells. The super-resolution detector will allow for exceeding the theoretical resolution limit, down to around 140 nm, and it will provide excellent signal-to-noise ratio and low photo-toxicity. The GaAsP detectors will help to image weak fluorescent signals from chimeric, transgenic mouse cells. With the aid of the spectral detector, we will be able to use a higher number of fluorophores to distinguish regions and proteins of interest. Full environmental control will provide optimal conditions for live cell imaging. The instrument will be placed in an imaging core facility, together with other core facilities, to serve as a central place for instrument-based services.
