In this project networked discrete-event systems are understood as digitally coupled controlled subsystems, which have to solve autonomous and cooperative tasks. The project aim is to develop control methods for the subsystems, which have to switch autonomously between an autonomous and a cooperative mode of operation. Methods for modelling and analysing networked systems should be developed, which combine the detailed models of the controlled subsystems for autonomous control tasks with global models of the cooperating subsystems. Starting with a preliminary work on the control of input/output automata a new method for the design of networked control should be developed with which the subsystems are able to decide depending on their local information in which situations they have to communicate with other subsystems and what information they have to exchange in order to solve cooperative task. The applicability of the new integrated method shall be demonstrated by applying it to a pilot plant.
