"Broad" falloff curves of unimolecular reactions. After clarifying the mechanism of the thermal decomposition of CF3I, the unimolecular dissociation of C2F5I is measured in shock waves by monitoring the UV-absorption of CF3 and CF2 and compared with modelled falloff curves. The approximation to the central region of the transition between low- and high-pressure limit of the falloff curve corresponds to a series of decompositions of C2F4, C2F5 and C2F6. Analogous studies of the dissociation of CF3I, C2F5I and C3F7I, which corresponds more to the high-pressure limit, shall be done.
