This project analyses the relationship between social exclusion and mobility, a topic which has often been neglected in the past. It focuses on two different dimensions: the subjective perception and spacial patterns. Thereby its aim is to explore the mobility behavior of people affected by income poverty with respect to their possibility for social participation. This will be achieved through the exploration of subjective perceptions to deduce their social deprivation. In addition, the spatial distribution of people affected by income poverty will also be studied. This objective analysis of spacial structure can further complement the study of social deprivation and possibly explain the complex interrelationship between exclusion and mobility. Subsequently, this project will draw conclusions for potential political interventions.
