In the course of the work on the research project “Pahlavica intermutuata. A contribution to the Middle West Iranian Cultural Lexicon ”, in addition to the results announced or predefined in the application, a number of findings emerged that could neither be scheduled nor even contemplated at the time of the application. The scope and importance of these data for the historical grammar of Persian as well as for numerous research areas such as the cultural history of the Middle East, Caucasology, Indology, Indo-European antiquities, palaeobotany, etc. make me apply for follow-up funding that would allow for the due completion of the already achieved and provisionally elaborated or targeted research results. The planned treatise should be designed in the form of a lexicon of approx. 90 lemmas. This roughly calculated number is based on the experience gained over the last few years and it is illustrated by the provisional list of lemmas given. I regard this study as a preliminary investigation for the large project of an etymological dictionary of Middle Persian, which is a long-term goal of both my current work and the proposed project.
