The main objective of this project is to experimentally probe and enhance the speed limits for the dynamics of Abrikosov vortices in superconducting films subjected to high dc current densities and/or high ac frequencies. A suitable arrangement of linearly-extended periodically arranged pinning sites is used to influence the vortex motion efficiently. We particularly focus on enhancing the upper current and frequency limits for vortex guiding (tendency of vortices to move along the extended pinning sites), the ratchet (rectifying) effect and its reversals, i. e the effects that are crucial for fluxonic devices operating at high vortex velocities. By analyzing similarities and differences between the pulsed-dc-driven and high-frequency-ac-stimulated vortex dynamics, we will be able to scrutinize flux transport mechanisms at work in thin-film superconductors.
