Project Details
Integration of cell signaling and metabolism in B cells (25)
Subject Area
Immunology
Term
from 2017 to 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 215346292
Project 25 has shown in the last funding period that accumulation of the GSK3 target protein β-Catenin results in increased metabolic activity and proliferation in mature B cells, but reduced mitochondrial function and impaired survival in B cell precursors. Moreover project 25 has provided evidence that endoplasmic reticulum (ER) homeostasis affects mitochondrial function and metabolic flexibility in B cells. The goal of the project is to define the molecular underpinnings of ER-dependent metabolic control and to identify the signaling events that tip the balance between increased metabolic activity and cell death after β-Catenin accumulation.
