Influence of ground spatial variability in numerical analysis of geomechanical problems

The present research project focuses on the analysis of geomechanical works by numerical methods of analysis. On top of that the aim is to evaluate the influence of ground spatial variability by combining statistical and numerical methods of analysis. Detailed information on the grounds variability is achieved from the excavation of three different tunnelling projects to be directly incorporated into numerical analysis. Finally, the influence of ground spatial variability will be investigated considering the stability of tunnel headings.
