This project aims at contributing to the interdisciplinary exchange about theories of social change and societal transformations and their relevance for the themes of climate change and sustainability. It is the goal to produce five review studies about these theories in the disciplines of sociology, political science, economics, communication studies and ethnology. Each review study is supposed to be deeply rooted in the respective discipline and is therefore a basis for robust disciplinary knowledge about these themes. The review studies also serve as a preparation for the participants of the interdisciplinary round table Climate Change and Sustainable Development: Theories of social change and societal transformations in the social sciences and economics. This round table is funded by the DFG (grant number Roundtable EN 488/4-1) as a contribution to the Strategic Initiative Climate Change and Sustainable Development. During this roundtable meeting and also in following meetings, the review studies serve to promote interdisciplinary literacy on relevant theories. By combining disciplinary robust knowledge and theme-specific, interdisciplinary exchange we want to support robust interdisciplinarity.
