Project Details
The actin cortex during transitions of cellular states (A10)
Subject Area
Statistical Physics, Nonlinear Dynamics, Complex Systems, Soft and Fluid Matter, Biological Physics
Term
since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 200049484
The cellular cortex is crucial for a variety of cellular functions such as shaping the cell or transmitting forces during migration. We plan to develop a dynamical cortex model build on our experimental data. Therefore, we will characterize and compare the structure and dynamics of the cellular cortex of cells under-going a state transition, such as adhering to a substrate or to other cells, or the activation of immune cells. We will also test the impact of these transitions and alterations of the cortex on migration. For the proposed work, A10 will actively collaborate with 9 projects within this CRC from all three areas (A, B, and C).
