Subject Area

Term
since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 287022738
C04 researches the use of cutting-edge silicon technology to build an integrated reflection-mode THz spectrometer. To overcome the current bandwidth, output power and sensitivity limitations of silicon-integrated THz front-ends, a multi-color approach is explored where transceivers operate sub-harmonically and at several harmonics at the same time. Based on this, C04 researches and develops ultra-compact silicon-based monostatic and quasi-monostatic transceivers covering the frequency range between 0.15 THz and 2 THz without gaps. As such, C04 aims to achieve a breakthrough in remote THz spectroscopy system mobility to provide the required portable spectroscopy hardware to the MARIE consortium.
