Project Details
Spectroscopic investigation of N-heteropolycyclic molecules by matrix isolation (B03)
Subject Area
Organic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term
since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 281029004
Within this project, high-resolution absorption and emission spectra of N-heteropolycycles are recorded with the aid of the matrix isolation technique. The molecules are embedded at 4 K into a polycrystalline, micrometer-thick matrix of noble gas (Ne) atoms. Monomers as well as weakly-bound dimers and aggregates are studied. The aim of the project is to assemble accurate data that enable, in alliance with theoretical work, a better understanding of the intermolecular interactions within organic materials. Furthermore, photochemical degradation pathways with and without the presence of dioxygen are evaluated.
