N01 intends to advance novel detectors and background mitigation techniques to search for Majorana neutrinos. The long-term goal is to reach a discovery sensitivity for Majorana neutrino masses below 20 meV, searching for neutrinoless double-beta decays of 76Ge. We propose to develop a low-background detector assembly for LEGEND-1000, focusing on high-purity PEN material, low-background ASIC electronics, and liquid argon instrumentation complemented by MC simulations to demonstrate the required background levels' feasibility.
