since 2017

In the first funding period, B05 focused on the effects of different human resource management practices on worker productivity and firm competitiveness. In the second funding period, we will extend the analysis to different forms of leadership. We want to study how transformational leaders affect behavior and economic outcomes. We conceptualize transformational leadership as different ways of affecting agents’ beliefs and preferences through communication or actions. We will also study the interaction of transformational and transactional leadership with formal organizational design. Moreover, we will investigate determinants of unethical leadership and whether and how leadership effectiveness interacts with gender and leadership legitimacy.
