Due to its exceptional position in the language continuum the subject community for the research of Finno-Ugric / Uralic languages, literatures and cultures has been developed which has formed very specific demands to information and literature supply. The geographical spread of this language family from Finland to Hungary and Siberia does not allow an attribution to other regional Specialised Information Services. Therefore a concept was prepared in close cooperation with the subject community which will focus on acquisition and licensing of highly specialized literature in original languages and provide it beyond local facilities.
