Synthesis ans Characterisation of Redox-active Dendrimers with patterned Periphery and Recognition Function for 2D and 3 D Materials. Construction kit with variable building blocks.

Subject Area Synthesis and Properties of Functional Materials
Polymer Materials
Term from 2016 to 2018
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 322638067

The project aims are the synthesis of a novel patterned dendrimers with a specific function into core (redox-active matrix i.e. 4,4-bipyridine units) and a recognition function on the periphery (a biologically active label i.e. purine or pyrimidine bases) and the study of the physical and chemical properties as well as the interaction between biological substrate and such dendrimer systems. The project combines a structural variability of the polymer cores of the variable functionality of the peripheral in the sense of a modular system. In this way, can be produced, new materials with: (i) a high selectivity at specific recognition reactions; (Ii) a rapid detection by the attached redox label; (Iii) individually adapted design of nanoscale, molecular units with high reproducibility by recognition properties; (Iv) ionic liquid crystal properties with localized redox functions (electron / ion transfer); (V) Anti-HIV-1 / anti-cancer X4 activities by interacting with the chemokine receptor CXCR4.
