Project A14 investigates the molecular principles underlying the tight temporal control of the integrated stress response, the main signaling pathway regulating host translation upon RNA virus infection. Molecular biology, microcopy and mathematical modeling approaches will be used to characterize PACT as a negative regulator of the translational Off-switch PKR and post-transcriptional regulators of the On-switch GADD34. This study will provide insights into how the fine-tuning of these switches determines the threshold of stress responsiveness and controls stress adaptation.
