Project Details
Forced wetting with hydrodynamic assist on gravure print cylinders (C01)
Subject Area
Engineering Design, Machine Elements, Product Development
Term
since 2016
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 265191195
The project investigates wetting and dewetting in gravure printing. Building on the previous results, the use of data-driven modeling approaches will be intensified in funding period 3 in order to achieve an even better under-standing of pattern formation in the printing gap. In particular, the various classes of fluid splitting are to be described using specific physical models in order to enable even more precise predictions of pattern formation in the printed layer. This will enable the technical optimization of the gravure printing process for special applications and new possibilities for process control.
