The automatic and strategic adaptation of affective processing biases: Effects of context and control (C06)

Subject Area Human Cognitive and Systems Neuroscience
Term from 2016 to 2021
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 264810226

This project investigates the neural mechanisms underlying adaptations of biases in affective information processing to different contexts. Biases in brain responses to positive versus negative information are studied as depending on a) automatic adaptations to the controllability of the situation and the context-induced affective-motivational state of the individual and b) strategic adaptations in accordance with conscious goals. Furthermore, the project investigates if the adaptation of biases in the neural processing of affective information is moderated by the individual ability for attention control and how it is related to resilience.
