Project Details
Cognitive emotion regulation in the face of stress (C05)
Subject Area
Human Cognitive and Systems Neuroscience
Term
from 2016 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 264810226
Volitional emotion regulation is one central resilience mechanism, although recent research has shown that its effectivity is strongly dependent on the choice of a specific strategy in a particular situation. So far it has not been investigated whether the individual choice is also the most effective one and how this choice is influenced by acute stress exposure given that under stress individuals tend to fall into habits. Project C05 is therefore investigating emotion regulation choice under normal as well as acute stress conditions, its effectivity as well as the manipulation of emotion regulation choice through specific training.
