Goal pursuit despite emotional distraction: Neural-network mechanisms of emotional interference inhibition and their role for resilience (C04)
Subject Area

Emotional interference inhibition (EII), i.e., inhibition of salient emotional stimuli to pursue goal-directed behavior despite emotional distraction, is considered a general resilience mechanism. In the first funding period, we have identified a brain network with specific spectral signatures common to various types of EII and correlating with proxy measures of resilience. Using information theoretic, pharmacological and neuromodulatory approaches, we now aim to gain mechanistic and causal understanding of the function of this network and its role as a resilience mechanism.
