Project Details
Cardiomyocyte Wnt/β-catenin complex activity in pathological remodeling - a tissue-specific therapeutic target (C07)
Subject Area
Pharmacology
Term
from 2016 to 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 193793266
In C07, we focus on context- (stage and cardiomyocyte (CM))-specific TCF-dependent and -independent Wnt/β-catenin complex activity and their role in vascular cell crosstalk in the process of pathological remodeling and heart failure (HF). Identified Wnt complex components will be investigated in biopsies from patients with aortic stenosis with varying degrees of HF and in human, induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) models of myocardial failure. Finally, these components will be used for the CM-specific therapeutic modulation of Wnt signaling in vivo and tested in the prevention of HF progression.
