Project Details
Diatoms and their response to phosphate limitation (D04*)
Subject Area
Microbial Ecology and Applied Microbiology
Term
from 2016 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 192445154
Diatoms are widespread organisms with high ecological impact. Living in marine environments, they have to react to fluctuating conditions. We are studying cellular responses to changing phosphate concentrations in the medium and investigate intracellular mechanisms as well as components secreted under phosphate limitation. Our research will indicate important mechanisms which allow diatoms to regulate their phosphate homeostasis.
