Time-resolved 2D-IR-spectroscopy at adsorbate layers (C04)
Subject Area

Term
from 2016 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 278162697
The temporal evolution in selectively vibrationally excited adsorbat monolayers is studied using time and frequency resolved pump-probe-spectroscopy. This allows us to directly observe the chain of modes and their branching which are populated with evolving time. This approach provides detailed insights into the coupling of vibrational modes. Studies with alkyl- and polyen-molecules of different lengths allow us to observe the propagation of the excess energy along the chains. Langmuir-Blodget films of different packing density detail the influence of intermolecular interactions on the vibrational dynamics.
