Photosynthesis and chloroplast metabolism are tightly linked and show significant reprogramming during temperature and light acclimation. In our project, we will fractionate leaf tissue to resolve subcellular dynamics in primary and secondary metabolism during cold and high light acclimation. A mathematical model will be developed to simulate photosynthesis and metabolic regulation. Model simulations will be iteratively optimized to reveal the role of sucrose and fumarate biosynthesis in context of plastidial malate dehydrogenase activity for photosynthetic and metabolic acclimation of Arabidopsis thaliana.
