Project Details
Analysis of co-translationally acting factors regulating the biogenesis of chloroplast encoded proteins (A05)
Subject Area
Plant Cell and Developmental Biology
Term
from 2016 to 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 270050988
We found that heat acclimation leads to remodelling of the synthesis of specific chloroplast-encoded photosystem II core proteins. Furthermore, we revealed a broad network of ribosome-associated factors in chloroplasts, containing many putative modulators and integrators with altered ribosome-binding behaviour during heat acclimation. Based on these findings, the proposed project aims to deepen the understanding how protein biogenesis is regulated during temperature acclimation. We plan to investigate selected putative modulators for their contribution for tuning translation itself and to examine central steps of co-translational nascent polypeptide processing and membrane integration.
