Flow, extreme magnetic fields, and data-driven analysis of hadronic collisions (C06)

Subject Area Nuclear and Elementary Particle Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Relativity, Fields
Term since 2016
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 273811115

The project´s objective is to investigate collective dynamics and extract transport properties of the QCD matter produced in high-energy collisions. A particular focus is directed towards the longitudinal dynamics, extreme electromagnetic fields, and precisely determining the properties of QCD matter. We will investigate longitudinal flow fluctuations, providing insights into thermal and quantum fluctuations, and explore the connection to baryon number transport, which is indicative of heat conductivity. We will develop a description of the QCD matter in presence of electromagnetic fields constraining its electric conductivity. These properties will be quantified by phenomenological analysis of experimental data using Bayesian inference, invertible neural networks, and persistent homology.
