Project Details
Nonequilibrium dynamics and relaxation in many-body quantum systems (A03)
Subject Area
Optics, Quantum Optics and Physics of Atoms, Molecules and Plasmas
Term
from 2020 to 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 273811115
The goal of this project is to study the universal properties of many-body quantum systems far from equilibrium and their possible connection to equilibrium critical phenomena and the Kibble-Zurek mechanism. A central objective is to classify the approach to non-thermal attractor solutions and their universal aspects. We consider different far from equilibrium initial conditions, dimensionality, and microscopic interaction strength. In addition, we will develop tools to probe many-body systems through higher-order correlations and repeated quantum limited measurements with the long-term goal to measure the effective quantum field theory descriptions of many-body quantum systems.
