Project Details
The BEC-BCS crossover in a gas with controlled disorder (B05)
Subject Area
Optics, Quantum Optics and Physics of Atoms, Molecules and Plasmas
Term
since 2016
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 277625399
This project will study the interplay of interaction, disorder, and time-dependence in an ultracold quantum gas along the BEC-BCS crossover. First, we will realize and control Floquet-Feshbach resonances in a many-body system and study how interference between two resonances allows engineering bound states in the continuum. Second, we will optimize the recently demonstrated many-body quantum engine and analyze the impact of shortcuts to adiabaticity and internal friction realized by the external disorder. Third, we aim to quantitatively understand the connection between microscopic pairs and macroscopic many-body dynamics in highly nonequilibrium situations driven by external disorder.
