Project B2 analyses transformation phenomena during the Mesolithic. In Phase 2, it shifts its focus to new regions (Rhinluch region, Brandenburg) in order to gain more general insights into Mesolithic landscape exploitation from a diachronic cultural perspective (technological transformations), as well as against the background of environmental dynamics. The results of Phase 1 enlarged significantly the empirical data basis and improved explanatory models of Mesolithic socio-cultural transformations. Based on this, the chronologies of supra-regional transformation processes, their possible drivers, patterns of their distribution, and the role of the environment, will be further investigated.
