An intellectual elite at the end of the Middle Ages: 'Publicist activity' and its impact on 'public opinion‘ (10)
Subject Area
Asian Studies
Term
from 2016 to 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 257731206
The subproject as a whole focuses on late medieval and early modern forms of ‘publicist activity’ aiming to redefine the neglected texts in terms of literary history and to locate them within the framework of political communication. Having examined the ruler in the first funding period of the CRC, the project now shifts focus to the authors interpreting them as intellectual elite: while acting within a somehow ‘public sphere’, the authors influence ‘public opinion’ and hence claim power.
