Structural remodeling of the lung vasculature is a hallmark of pulmonary hypertension and is characterized by a “pseudo-malignant” cellular phenotype. Those pathobiological alterations are governed by kinases that stimulate signaling pathways involved in cell survival and growth as well as resistance to apoptosis. Spatiotemporal analysis of the kinome atlas in the lung as well as in the right ventricle will reveal a unique 3D landscape of potential new drug targets. Therefore, we seek to therapeutically exploit this class of proteins by using kinase inhibitors targeting disease-driving pulmonary vascular cells as well as peripheral blood mononuclear cells.
