Understanding regional sea level change and its impacts on societies requires new forms of integrated research between a wide range of disciplines, jointly involving physical and social sciences. Only such a fully integrated program can provide the scientific basis for the development of information supporting coastal zone protection and management required to minimize the societal impact of rising sea levels. A proactive, extensive program coordination is of central importance for the success of any priority program. This holds even more so for an interdisciplinary program such as the SPP SeaLevel which always needs more attention and nurturing to evolve than a disciplinary enterprise. During the 2nd funding phase of the SPP SeaLevel, a primary task of the SPP Coordination is to provide continuous interdisciplinary scientific and organizational coordination, enhance the networking within the SPP, expand on outreach and equal opportunity measures, and create opportunities to maximize the utilization and impact of the program’s outcomes. As such, the Coordination will continuously promote the close collaboration among individual projects and exchange of information. The Coordination with all its aspects and modules is being performed under the responsibility of D. Stammer who has the full oversight of the SPP. He will continue to be being assisted by the Coordination assistant Eleni Tzortzi who will support the SPP through all aspects of the Coordination and all modules, who will help with the networking within the priority program and help with regular working meetings, as well as bi-annual status seminars. Without the full-time support from Eleni Tzortzi the necessary support of the SPP required to lead it to a success could not be provided.
