Project Details
Modeling, sensor-based characterization and active control of vaporization processes in microchannel structures
Subject Area
Technical Chemistry
Term
from 2016 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 274353615
The central aim of this continuation project is an enlargement of theoretical investigations and technical implementations targeting evaporation in microreactors. The following topics shall be addressed: (1) implementation of further principles of electric sensing, for a characterization of evaporation (2) a further improved mapping of flow regimes with assistance from these sensors implemented in micro evaporation reactors (3) realization of micro evaporators with integrated microactiuators for an active control and influencing of evaporation and flow conditions (4) basic investigations on the modeling of evaporation in microreactors. With that, the project takes the next consequent step towards closed-loop concepts for the control of evaporation in microreactors. The final aim is to keep the evaporation process in a microreactor in its ideal process window, by means of an active control, to monitor steam quality via sensorial feedback and, in the case of high-performance cooling, to drive the microevaporation system towards high performance.
