We study magnons in ferromagnets by strong coupling to superconducting qubits. To probe the most fundamental properties of the spin waves, the lowest temperatures are needed. A cryogenic free dilution refrigerator is a powerful and versatile system that allows reaching very low temperature (10 mK) without the need of any cryogenics. No expensive helium and no additional personal cost are needed to run or maintain the system. Given its large sample space home-made customization for various research purposes is possible, such as additional magnetic coils, more samples, or extensive microwave components. To probe the quantum circuits spectroscopically and pulsed at microwave frequencies the following components are required: 20 GHz vector network analyzer, 2.3 GS/s arbitrary waveform generator, 500 MHz oscilloscope, three 20 GHz microwave generators, low frequency signal analyzer, microwave spectrum analyzer, 500 MHz analog-digital card, a 10 MHz frequency standard, cryogenic (1x) and room-temperature (2x) microwave amplifiers, three microwave circulators, microwave switch, cryogenic coaxial cables, IQ mixer (3x) and two computers. This setup will allow us to probe the fundamental properties of magnons by coherent coupling to a fully externally controlled superconducting qubit.
