Project Details
Finite size effects in atomically thin REO3 single crystalline films (A10*)
Subject Area
Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term
from 2016 to 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 31047526
We propose a project to explore and engineer the metallization of ultra thin layers of oxides from the rare earth oxide family REO3. This would require a combination of advanced thin film growth techniques, advanced structural and electronic characterization, advanced theoretical calculations and modelling. The goal would be the understanding and control of the metallization of these films with a view to finding novel, unconventional superconductors.
