Project Details
Spatial distribution, sources, and cloud processing of aerosol particles (B04)
Subject Area
Atmospheric Science
Term
since 2016
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 268020496
The role of aerosol particles in the Arctic climate change still requires further investigation. To understand aerosol particle sources and properties, we measure specific climate-relevant particles at different heights (near the surface, in the atmospheric boundary layer and above) with the newly developed mobile measurement systems (T-Bird) in the field, and simulated sea-air transfer experiments in the laboratory. These measurements will provide important input data for atmospheric models evaluating the aerosol and cloud effects for Arctic amplification.
