Four-dimensional phase-contrast magnetic resonance imaging (4D PC-MRI) has great potential to improve diagnosis as well as progress monitoring of cardiovascular diseases and support treatment decisions. There is a lack of standardized and reliable evaluation methods that facilitate usage in the clinical routine. Such methods shall be developed in the proposed project. Above all, there are no normative values of the parameters that are quantifiable in 4D PC-MRI data. In the proposed project, such normative values for quantitative measures such as peak velocities and stroke volumes shall be obtained for a group of healthy volunteers. Additionally, patients with either an inherited bicuspid aortic valve or a surgically corrected tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary insufficiency are examined. 1 year follow-up examinations are planned that facilitate prognoses about the medium- and long-term disease progressions.
