Project Details
Protein interactions for the dynamic regulation of the IRON-REGULATED TRANSPORTER1 (IRT1) and cellular metal trafficking (B05)
Subject Area
Plant Cell and Developmental Biology
Term
since 2016
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 267205415
The essential root IRON-REGULATED TRANSPORTER1 (IRT1) is regulated at multiple levels by iron, including protein stability, trafficking, and localization at the plasma membrane. IRT1 contains a large cyto-solic loop domain, important for IRT1 transporter function and regulation. We focus on the roles of IRT1 cytosolic loop interacting proteins. We postulate that these interactions at the face of membranes are important for the dynamics of IRT1 and iron signaling, as part of the mechanisms to control iron uptake into cells.
