Project Details
Nucleosynthesis in core-collapse supernovae (B06)
Subject Area
Nuclear and Elementary Particle Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Relativity, Fields
Term
since 2016
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 279384907
In project B06, we will use nucleosynthesis yields based on multi-dimensional supernova simulations to connect microphysics advances to observations of elements in old stars. The microphysics inputs (nuclear equation of state, neutrino-matter interactions, and flavor oscillations) critically affect the supernova explosion dynamics and the neutron star evolution. The latter control the neutrino energies and luminosities that determine the nucleosynthesis. This project will allow us to gain new insights into the physics of core-collapse supernovae and their contribution to the chemical history of the Universe.
