Project Details
Electroweak interactions in nuclei and nuclear matter (B01)
Subject Area
Nuclear and Elementary Particle Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Relativity, Fields
Term
since 2016
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 279384907
Project B01 is advancing the theoretical description of electroweak interactions in nuclei and nuclear matter, which impacts electroweak reactions of nuclei, neutrino-matter interactions in supernovae and mergers, and nucleosynthesis. We will explore the role of many-body correlations and two-body currents for magnetic properties or nuclei. Building on the recent equation of state advances, consistent neutrino-matter interactions will be developed for astrophysical applications. Moreover, we will use nuclei around N=50 as testing ground for global calculations of beta-decay half-lives to gain new insights in their production by the r-process and their role in the kilonova electromagnetic emission.
